2021 FRONZ Conference
HTC Chair presented a paper to the wider members on our ‘reset’ project over the last two years. Answered questions and attended as an observer the Mainline Operators’ breakout workshop. This years’ conference had a positive and constructive ‘vibe’. After missing the annual conference in 2020 due to COVID, it was great to see the kiwi heritage rail whānau gathered back together again.
Strategy by torchlight
Preparing for the first meeting between FRONZ President, HOC Chair, HTC Chair, & Executive Officer and KR National Management Team. A very successful meeting, set to become a quarterly event. Professional cooperation and collaboration to cement a strong future for Network Heritage Operations.

Chair with DTG tonight
Facilitated a 'reset' support meeting with DTG Exec' Committee tonight. Although DTG is my home group, the messages needing delivered are the same. We all hang on the lower rungs of the ladder and are making good progress moving upwards. Ngā mihi Mike.

Carriage door safety…share your thoughts.
Got some good ideas? Share them with us.
We are taking a look at passenger car/gate security with a 2021 'so far as is reasonably practicable' lens.
The collective wisdom of the sector shouldn't be underestimated.

Plenty of post-meeting correspondence is about to be sent out by our Secretary - check your inboxes tomorrow.
There is a delay on the release of the Carriage Door Locks discussion document. We have a special committee Zoom meeting on Tuesday to confirm our committee's consensus on its content.

Certifying Engineers Meeting Today
Our regular CPEng Group meeting was held today. Some good conversations, including about the risks vs. benefits of carriage door locking. Passenger egress in emergencies vs. people falling out of carriages.
New Rail Ltd. Inspector engaged.
RAIL Ltd has just signed their employment contract with Steve Brown. The Heritage Sector is lucky to be able to engage his expertise for inspections from now on. The 'reset' is getting things done.
